Arabic negative keyword generator: the forms people actually type, ready to paste into Google Ads
A Google Ads negative keyword doesn't block its plural or its synonyms. Type what you don't want to pay for, check the forms one by one, then copy the list in the match type you choose.
The generator
Suggested forms
Selected: 7 of 7
Showing an example: وظائف (jobs), pdf, مستعمل (used). Type your own words instead.
Forms of your words. Untick any you don't want to block.
Type at least one word to see its forms.
One keyword per line, with the symbols of the match type you chose. If it's going into account-level negatives, the account holds 1,000 in total, including the ones already there.
The short answer
An Arabic negative keyword needs each of its forms added separately, because Google Ads doesn't match negatives to plurals or synonyms, and doesn't say how it treats Arabic letter forms such as the hamza, taa marbuta, alif maqsura or the article «ال». Type the word into the generator, keep the forms with the same intent, untick any form a buyer might type, then paste the list into Google Ads.
How to use the generator
- Type every word or phrase you don't want your ads to show for, one per line. You can paste them straight from the search terms report; the generator strips diacritics, tatweel and match-type symbols.
- Leave the spelling forms on, and turn on whichever judgment options fit: plurals, dialect and synonyms, Latin script, attached letters.
- Read the forms. Under each one is the reason it's there, such as "no hamza" or "plural or singular". Untick any form that someone you want to reach might type.
- Choose the match type, then copy the list and paste it into Google Ads.
What the generator produces, and why
| Form | You type | It adds | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hamza on alif | أسعار | اسعار | On |
| Hamza on yaa or waw | وظائف | وظايف | On |
| Final taa marbuta | طريقة | طريقه | On |
| Alif maqsura and yaa | مستشفى | مستشفي | On |
| Arabic and Western digits | خصم ٥٠ | خصم 50 | On |
| With and without «ال» | وظائف | الوظائف | On |
| Plurals and singulars | وظائف | وظيفة | Off |
| Dialect and synonyms | مجاني | ببلاش | Off |
| Latin script | وظائف | jobs | Off |
| Attached letters | الرياض | بالرياض | Off |
The spelling forms are the same word typed differently, and they don't change the meaning, so they start on. «ال» is different: on a place name it can change the meaning, so the generator never adds or removes it there. الجدة is "the grandmother", not Jeddah, and رياض means "gardens", not Riyadh. Nor does it remove «ال» from words where it isn't the article, such as الهام (inspiration) or التهاب (inflammation). Some spelling rules have limits too. The generator never turns a final ه into ة, because كتابه ("his book") isn't كتابة ("writing"), and it leaves على ("on") alone so it doesn't become the name علي.
Plurals, dialect and Latin script come from word tables built around the search intents that keep coming up in Arabic accounts, such as jobs, anything free, downloads and pdf, "how to" and "yourself", used goods, courses, dream interpretation, school homework, wallpapers, and the Arabic spellings of Google and YouTube. Attached letters are a rule, not a table: و (and), ب (in) and ل (for) go on the «ال» form of the word you typed (الوظائف → بالوظائف), and و and ب on a place name that has no «ال» (جدة → بجدة). Other words without «ال» get none, because ب on طاقة (energy) makes بطاقة (card). If a word isn't in the tables, the generator only guesses its plural in one case, a final taa marbuta: سيارة (car) gets سيارات (cars). Check that guess: شجرة (tree) gets شجرات, but people type أشجار. A few such plurals, like مدرسة → مدارس, are already in the tables.
When not to add a form
My view: a negative that blocks a selling search costs more than one you forgot to add. A form you missed usually shows up in the search terms report within a week or two, if enough people searched it, and you add it. A search you blocked by mistake never shows up in any report, because your ad never appeared for it. That's why the judgment options start off.
- Don't block a word buyers also type, such as سعر ("price"), أفضل ("best") or a city you serve. That's why كيف ("how") and سعر aren't in the generator's tables.
- Don't add مجاني or free on its own as a broad negative if your offer can include the word: مجاني blocks «شحن مجاني» and «توصيل مجاني» (free shipping, free delivery), and free blocks free shipping, sugar free and gluten free. Pair it with the intent you don't want instead, as a two-word broad negative such as تحميل مجاني (free download): it blocks any search with both words, in any order, such as «تحميل كتاب مجاني», and leaves «شحن مجاني» alone.
- Check the suggestions against what you sell. جوجل and google block «بطاقة جوجل بلاي» (Google Play cards) and «جوجل بكسل» (Google Pixel) for a store that sells them; يوتيوب blocks «اشتراك يوتيوب بريميوم» (YouTube Premium subscriptions); بنفسك blocks «اصنع بنفسك» (DIY) for a tools store; تحميل and تنزيل are typed by people looking for a moving company («تحميل وتنزيل عفش», loading and unloading furniture), and in Jordan تنزيل also means a price cut. If you type خلفيات yourself, remember that event decorators sell «خلفيات تخرج» (graduation backdrops).
- Attached letters multiply the list. Run the cities you don't serve as their own batch with the option on (بجدة, بالدمام), and leave it off for everything else.
Before and after you paste
Before you add the list, check each negative against the keywords in every campaign it will apply to: a negative whose words all appear in one of your keywords can block the searches that keyword is there to catch. Then open the search terms report after a week or two of clicks, longer if your account is small. Any form still spending needs a negative of its own. If impressions fall by more than the season and your budget can explain, look for the broad negative that's blocking more than you meant, and narrow it to phrase or exact. The full routine is in the guide to Arabic negative keywords.
If you'd like me to check your search terms and negatives against what you actually sell, that's part of the Google Ads account audit: you give me read-only access, and within about 48 hours I show you what spends without selling and which negatives block searches that sell.
Questions
Why isn't adding the word once enough?
Because Google says negative keywords don't match close variants: وظيفة (job) doesn't block وظائف (jobs), and مجاني (free) doesn't block the colloquial ببلاش. Negatives do account for capitalization and for misspellings that Google corrects in search results, but Google doesn't say whether it counts اسعار for أسعار, or طريقه for طريقة, as a misspelling. So the generator adds the spelling forms as a precaution and leaves plurals and synonyms for you to choose.
Which match type should I pick?
Pick the narrowest one that does the job. Broad, written as the word itself, blocks any search containing all its words in any order; use it for words that never sell, like وظائف (jobs) or pdf. Phrase, in quotation marks, blocks searches with its words in that order. Exact, in square brackets, blocks only that one search.
Why are plurals, dialect and Latin script off at the start?
Because they're other words with a similar intent, not the same word typed differently, and a buyer may type some of them. With Latin script on, مجاني (free) brings in free, which blocks free shipping and sugar free for a store that ships for free or sells sugar-free products. Turn the option on, read every form, and untick anything the people you want to reach might type.
Are my words sent anywhere?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser, and no word is sent to this site or its analytics.
Where do I paste the list?
Terms that never sell in any campaign, like وظائف (jobs) or pdf, go in account-level negative keywords: Admin → Account settings → Negative keywords. They apply to Search and Shopping inventory in every campaign in the account, Performance Max included, and an account holds up to 1,000 of them. Terms that are wrong for some campaigns but not others go in a negative keyword list that you apply to those campaigns: up to 5,000 keywords per list and 20 lists per account. A Performance Max campaign also takes negatives of its own, up to 10,000: under Campaigns → Keywords → Negative keywords, choose that campaign. I explain when to use each in the guide to Arabic negative keywords.
