YouTube Shopping Has Launched in Saudi Arabia. Does It Help Your Salla or Zid Store Yet?

Creators in Saudi Arabia now have a commission route on YouTube, and the only retailer named is Amazon. This week's decision is about your Amazon channel and your creator deals, not YouTube.

The short answer

The YouTube Shopping affiliate program, which Google announced for Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt on 26 October 2026, lets creators in the YouTube Partner Program tag products in videos and earn commission. Amazon is the only retailer named. Google describes no route in for a store selling only on Salla or Zid, and Jordan is not included. This week's decision is about your Amazon channel and your creator deals.

The bottom line

  • Check whether your best sellers are on Amazon and whether you actually run them as a channel: title, images, price and stock.
  • Don't renegotiate creator fees on the strength of commission rates Google hasn't published.
  • Keep a discount code or UTM link for every creator you deal with directly; it's how a store outside the program measures them.
  • Cite Google's 26 October 2026 post, not the help page, until the help page lists Saudi Arabia.

Since yesterday the news has been out: YouTube Shopping has arrived in Saudi Arabia. The owner of a Salla store reads it between confirming two cash-on-delivery orders. He starts typing a question to his developer about connecting the store to YouTube, stops, and opens Amazon's seller sign-up page in another tab. Which does he act on?

Neither, yet. What Google announced on 26 October 2026 is a commission program for creators, not an ad product, and Amazon is the only retailer named in it. A store that sells only through its own Salla or Zid site (two Saudi e-commerce platforms, roughly what Shopify is elsewhere) has no way in. This week's real decision is about your Amazon channel and your creator deals, not YouTube.

What did Google announce for YouTube Shopping in Saudi Arabia?

Google announced the YouTube Shopping affiliate program in a post on its MENA blog by Javid Aslanov, Head of YouTube for the region, dated 26 October 2026. In plain terms: creators tag products in their videos and earn a commission when viewers buy.

Google writes: "we're launching the YouTube Shopping affiliate program in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt, with Amazon as our first affiliate partner." On who gets to tag: "eligible creators in the YouTube Partner Program (with as few as 500 subscribers) can now monetize product recommendations directly inside their long-form videos, Shorts, and livestreams."

The post also covers AI-assisted tagging and QR codes on connected TVs. Both are features for creators and viewers, not for merchants.

The line closest to sellers is this one: "It also gives merchants the opportunity to discover creators that have high credibility in the niches they own and the content they create." I'd read that carefully. It's about finding creators, not about letting your store in.

Is it a new ad format, and does it cover Salla and Zid stores or Jordan?

No on all three counts, as of 27 October 2026. It isn't a Google Ads campaign type, and Google's post mentions no change to Google Ads, Merchant Center or YouTube ad buying. Your campaigns run exactly as they did yesterday.

Salla and Zid stores have no route in. The post doesn't mention Merchant Center, Salla, Zid or Shopify. The only direct merchant route Google documents is entirely American: Merchant Center Help requires a US target country, a Shopify Advanced or Plus plan, a store currency in US dollars and a US billing address. Other brands get an interest form, and YouTube Help is blunt about it: "Filling out the form does not guarantee an invitation."

Jordan isn't included. Google names Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt as the only launch countries. Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman aren't mentioned either.

The help page hasn't caught up. As of 27 October 2026, the YouTube Help page on the program's eligibility doesn't list Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Egypt.

Which stores in Saudi Arabia and Jordan does this launch affect?

Sellers on Amazon come first, because Amazon is the only shop Google's announcement lets creators tag from. What follows is my reading of the impact, not Google's.

If you sell on Amazon

A Saudi creator may find your product and tag it. But Google hasn't said which Amazon storefronts are included, or whether every product a third-party seller lists can be tagged. Don't build a plan on it. Do get ready for it.

A creator only earns when the viewer buys, so the likely pick is the product whose page sells: a clear title, good images, a price your own store doesn't undercut, and stock that lasts through White Friday. A weak listing loses the commission race before anyone starts filming.

If you sell only on Salla or Zid

Nobody can tag your products through this launch. You have three options, and they don't rule each other out: wait for more retailers to be announced; list your best sellers on Amazon.sa (Amazon's Saudi storefront) as an extra channel for Amazon's own buyers, not for YouTube, since Google hasn't confirmed that Amazon.sa listings can be tagged; or keep doing direct deals with creators. If you decide to try Amazon, ask your platform about catalog connection first, as covered in Salla vs Zid.

If your brand is based in Jordan

No direct access. A Jordanian brand selling into Saudi Arabia through Amazon might still reach Saudi creators, but that turns on what nobody has announced: which storefronts, which sellers. If you sell only in Jordan, nothing changes this week.

Where does your store stand? A decision table for this week

The table reflects what Google had announced as of 27 October 2026.

Your store What the launch means now What to do this week What to wait for
You sell on Amazon in Saudi Arabia and run it as a channel: a plan, an owner, a weekly review Your products may reach creators; which storefronts and sellers are included isn't confirmed Review the pages of your top 10 sellers: title, images, price against your own store, whether your own offer is the Featured Offer (Buy Box) rather than a reseller's, and stock ahead of White Friday, allowing for the time Amazon needs to receive stock if you ship through FBA. Ask the creators you work with whether they're in the YouTube Partner Program and have joined YouTube Shopping in YouTube Studio The YouTube Help page listing Saudi Arabia, and any word on which sellers qualify
Listed on Amazon, but it barely sells Creators will pass over a page that doesn't sell Decide: run it as a channel with a plan, an owner and a number you read every week, or leave it as a side shelf, knowing what it still costs you each month (any selling-plan fee, and storage if your stock sits in Amazon's warehouses), and keep it out of the plan Nothing, until you've made that call
Salla or Zid only No route in through this launch Keep your direct creator deals, with a discount code or UTM link for each creator, and check that each creator you pay in Saudi Arabia holds a Mawthooq license from the General Authority for Media Regulation Retailers other than Amazon, or a route for independent stores in Saudi Arabia
Jordan-based, selling into Saudi Arabia Jordan isn't included; access through Amazon in Saudi Arabia isn't confirmed If you're on Amazon in Saudi Arabia, follow row one; if not, row three News on which sellers qualify, and any expansion beyond the three countries
Jordan only Nothing changes Nothing. And don't pay anyone to set up a program you can't join Jordan appearing on the program's country list

What can you ignore for now?

Don't change what you pay creators because of this launch: Google has published no commission rate for Saudi Arabia. Anyone quoting you a rate today is repeating an unofficial source, or guessing.

Ignore the talk that influencer fees are finished. Creators now have an extra way to earn inside YouTube, which may change how they price paid posts and what they'd rather feature, but no number shows that yet. While your store is outside the program, measure each direct deal yourself, with a discount code or UTM link per creator, as I explained in ad platforms in Saudi Arabia.

If someone offers to set up YouTube Shopping for your Salla or Zid store right now, they're selling you a setup that isn't possible: as of 27 October 2026 there's no documented route for a store like that in Saudi Arabia.

Should you open an Amazon account because of YouTube?

My view: don't open an Amazon account because of a YouTube headline. Open it, or fix the one you have, because Amazon is worth running as a sales channel. If YouTube comes along later, that's a bonus.

The news changes who recommends a product. It doesn't change what makes someone buy it. Listing products on Amazon doesn't create a channel. A channel is a set of decisions: which products go in first, with what content, at a price that stays consistent with your own store, and who checks stock every week. Without those, the product sits on a shelf nobody visits, creators included.

I've seen that difference firsthand. For Argan Package in Saudi Arabia, I managed listing the company's products on Amazon.sa and built a full plan to turn Amazon into a real sales channel; it added revenue equal to 22% for the company within its first two months. YouTube played no part in that result. The details are in how Amazon became a sales channel at Argan Package.

That's why I start with the sales sheet, not the platform's headline. Do buyers of your product search on Amazon at all? Can your margin carry the channel's fees with your price still in line with your store? Who will check the listings every week?

Sequence matters too: add a new channel after your store converts the traffic it already has, as I explain in when to add a new sales channel. If your Salla or Zid store isn't converting today, whatever it lacks in images, descriptions and pricing will probably be missing from your Amazon page too.

What should you watch for next?

Five signals, any of which could move you to another row of the table:

  1. The program's YouTube Help page. Once Saudi Arabia appears there, the local terms are in writing.
  2. Retailers other than Amazon. The press release distributed on Zawya says the first phase launches with Amazon "with plans to expand to more retailers soon", and that YouTube plans to work "with more local and international retailers in the future". It gives no date and no names, and it doesn't say whether store platforms such as Salla or Zid, or independent stores, will be let in.
  3. Jordan and the other Gulf states. No mention of either as of 27 October 2026.
  4. Commission rates in Saudi Arabia. Once they're published, talk about creator fees can turn to real numbers.
  5. What merchants get to see. Google's post mentions no report for merchants on sales that came from a video. Until one appears, don't count on seeing which video sold what. Your discount code measures only the deals you make directly; on Amazon, the closest signal is a jump in a product's sales in the days after a creator's video.

This week, though, the decision that deserves your time is the Amazon one: a channel you run, or a shelf you leave alone on purpose. If you'd like to settle it with your own store's numbers, that's part of what I do in e-commerce growth: choosing the channel, and writing down the number it will be judged by before anything starts.

Questions

Can my Salla or Zid store join YouTube Shopping?

Not through this launch. Google's 26 October 2026 post names Amazon as its first affiliate partner, names no other retailer, and describes no route for an independent store. The only direct merchant route Google documents is for US stores on Shopify's Advanced or Plus plan, priced in US dollars, with a US billing address.

Is YouTube Shopping available in Jordan?

No, as of 27 October 2026. Google announced the program for Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt only, and gave no date for any other country.

Do I need to sell on Amazon for creators to tag my products?

In this launch Amazon is the only retailer named, so for now the practical answer is yes. But Google hasn't said which Amazon storefronts are included, or whether every product a seller lists on Amazon can be tagged. So don't open an account for YouTube's sake alone; open one if Amazon is a channel worth running.

What commission do creators earn in Saudi Arabia, and should I change influencer fees?

Google hasn't published a commission rate for Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Egypt. Don't change fees on the basis of a number that doesn't exist. Keep your deals as they are and measure each one with its own discount code or UTM link.

Is YouTube Shopping a new Google Ads campaign type?

No. It's a commission program that pays creators when viewers buy, and Google's post mentions no change to Google Ads, Merchant Center or YouTube ad buying. Your campaigns work as they did before.
